If you’ll look at the bottom, beside the preview, you can see the new background selector. You can use both images, or plain gradients.
I would dare to say that ExpoSong might even be ready for actual use. Of course, you can’t do much more than plain-text slides (lyrics too, but it’s plain-text as well), but there’s nothing wrong with an assembly without images/videos.

Hello Brad,
I just wanna say that this project is very promising! I am in charge of worship slides in our church and I either resort to Ubuntu and Windows XP using PPT/ODP. But having discovered this software, this is literally a godsend…
I will be fiddling with this and see if I can use it this sunday. I am not sure how this works with an LCD projector though. Is this as easy as plug and play?
Thanks a lot!
Good to hear that it will be good for you, Israel. Exposong attempts to detect a second screen, so it should work just fine. It hasn’t been tested in all situations, so if you have problems be sure to submit issues at the project page, or send me an email (bradleelandis_AT_gmail_DOT_com).
Hello,
I gave it a run today and knew from the start that this is something very promising. Easy interface, easy setup, and my little sister can operate this thing. I had to do it with my EEE because its has better support for dual screen. I will set this up on my main laptop next week. BTW an Asus EEE with this software makes an already cute hardware more impressive.. hehe.
I really like the way how the fonts are rendered in the presentations. Texts are clear, and the default shadows work great. I also used the custom schedule which is much more of a relief than clunking OO Impress for Lyrics and Text.
I know this software is way early in development but it is very promising. I know this will get into Ubuntu Repos once it gets to 1.0
Please consider these in your future releases.
A copy of the Bible for quick scripture presentation
Animated Transitions
Capability to have different backgrounds per song.
Left-aligned texts
Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks for the feedback, Israel. Any feedback is good, and the suggestions you gave were great.
I’ve got plans for bible scriptures, and simple transitions are a possibility (though I’d prefer to keep the focus on the content. Animation would be good as a visual cue to show that the slide is changing though). The other two are possibilities, but the problem is to keep the program simple while doing complex things.
Hi brother. I just wrote to you because I found funny to be a minority (to be christian) of a minority (a linux user) in Italy
I think I will use exposong in my church, after the approvation of my pastor.
It is already a good program.
God bless you.
So, If you want I can translate in Italian or you have yet a translator for my language?
Alexo,
That would be great actually, because we only have a german translator right now. We’ve got some basic instructions in the wiki for translating, but you may already have experience with that. Once you do it, go ahead and attach it to a new issue, and once I check it out, I’ll add you as a contributor so you can add it via SVN if you’d like (or I can do it myself).
(I sent this to your email a couple of days ago, but never heard back.)
